If you are commissioning aerial work for the first time, the categories below explain what exists, what each one is for, and what you receive at the end. We provide all of them; the point of this guide is to help you ask for the right one.
1. Commercial aerial photography
The foundation: finished, color-graded still photographs of a business, property, or site from the air. Used on websites, in brochures and ads, in proposals, and on social media. The deliverable is an organized set of high-resolution images in the crops you need, with a commercial license to use them indefinitely. Most businesses start here, and most come back for video once they see the stills in use.
2. Drone video and hero films
Edited aerial video for a specific place it will live: a muted homepage hero loop, vertical social clips, a short film for a sales presentation or a trade show. The deliverable is the finished video in the right formats plus the graded source clips for reuse. Video is planned around calm air and low sun, and it is the service with the most visible payoff on a website; the hero loops we shot for Storlie Construction and Shepard Excavating in late summer 2026 are the first thing visitors to those sites see.
3. Construction and site progress documentation
Dated, repeatable aerial records of a job site, captured on a schedule from the same angles so the sequence shows exactly what changed. Used by contractors, owners, and lenders for progress reporting, pay applications, dispute avoidance, and eventually marketing. The deliverable is an organized, dated image set after each visit, with optional video. This is documentation and marketing imagery, not surveying; we do not produce survey-grade maps, volumes, or engineering data.
4. Resort, tourism, and commercial property imagery
Imagery built for places that sell an experience or a location: resorts, campgrounds, lodges, golf courses, dealerships, storage facilities, and commercial parcels. The shoot is timed for the property at its best, often golden hour in peak season, and the deliverable is a marketing library: hero images, a video reel, social cuts, and supporting stills for booking sites, sales materials, and print. Tourism boards and destination marketers commission the same work at a regional scale.
5. Estate and lake home portraits
A commissioned portrait of a private home, cabin, farm, or lake property, made with the care usually reserved for architecture. What every service has in common
A written proposal before anything is booked, spelling out deliverables, travel, turnaround, and usage rights. An FAA Part 107 certified, MnDOT-registered, insured operator with a certificate of insurance available on request. Flights planned around light, weather, and airspace, including FAA authorization where the site is near Bemidji Regional, Brainerd Lakes Regional, or Duluth International. Delivery of finished, organized files within about a week, with rush available.
What none of them include: survey-grade mapping, thermal or infrared imaging, or anything we would call an inspection. Those are specialist services with their own credentials, and we will point you to the right provider rather than overreach.
